Evaluating the Tensile Properties of Geogrids Using the Particle Image Velocimetry Technique

This study investigates the use of particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique and GeoPIV-RG software to track localized axial lateral strain development composite geogrid specimens in a wide-width tensile test evaluate load-strain response material. The effects rate on mechanical properties both machine direction (MD) cross-machine (CMD) under tension were also investigated by performing tests three different rates. aperture at center specimen was suggested as optimum location accurately measure development. results revealed that stiffness tested independent comparatively higher than manufacturer specified values. Therefore, these confirm crosshead method underestimates geosynthetics test. findings suggest cost-effective geotechnical structures can be designed adopting obtained from instead method.
